In New Mexico, only people with a valid MMJ card or a licensed caregiver can purchase marijuana. With over 80,000 patients in the state, the business is expanding. The state has set an April 1st, 2022, timetable for the recreational cannabis industry to begin. Stay tuned – we’ll keep this page updated with new details!
Buying Marijuana at Retail Location
With a wide range of pre-existing illnesses and dispensaries located throughout the state, becoming a medical marijuana patient and purchasing marijuana is not difficult. Because of the state’s huge number of medical dispensaries, we anticipate that recreational patients will have little trouble finding cannabis once the market formally opens – ideally before the April 1st, 2022 deadline.
Marijuana Delivery Service
Medical marijuana delivery is legal in New Mexico, thanks to the courier system that has been put in place. Couriers are approved delivery drivers who transport marijuana goods from farmers to dispensaries or from dispensaries to patients. Only deliveries to the address indicated on a patient’s or caregiver’s medicinal marijuana card are permitted. As of now, it is unknown if adult-use cannabis will be accessible for delivery. We will keep you informed as additional information becomes available!
New Mexico Dispensary Hours
In New Mexico, there are no limits on the hours that dispensaries can be open. Having said that, many operate throughout normal business hours.
Purchase Restrictions
In terms of purchasing limitations for patients, New Mexico is fairly liberal. Those with a valid medical marijuana card may possess up to eight ounces of cannabis, or 230 “units,” during 90 days. 1 unit equals 1 gram, or 200 mg of THC in edibles or concentrates. For concentrates, some fast math is required: if 1 gram of concentrate contains 80 percent THC, the decimal point must be moved over, yielding 800 mg of THC, or 4 units (800 divided by 200). Consumers must keep track of their receipts and do these computations during each 90-day cycle to avoid overbuying and breaking the law.
Anyone over the age of 21 will be allowed to purchase cannabis when the adult-use cannabis market in New Mexico starts on or before April 1st, 2022.
